Amidst batons, arrests, pepper spray, pepper balls, and water cannon deployed by the police on New Year’s Eve, Hongkongers insisted on gathering on the streets to count down to the New Year.
They decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve on their own terms.
The New Year countdown in Hong Kong goes, “3, 2, 1… Liberate Hong Kong, the revolution of our times.”
Meanwhile, in Shatin, residents ushered in the New Year at the Shatin Town Hall by replacing their countdown with “10, 9, Li-be-rate, Hong Kong, Re-vo-lution, now!”
Fight on, Hongkongers.
