News agency Axios found in a yearlong investigation that a suspected Chinese intelligence operative Fang Fang (aka Christin Fang) has successfully accessed local and national politicians including Rep. Eric Swalwell.

As a student, Fang Fang reached out to Swalwell when he was a Dublin City Council member. It is a sophisticated, well planned and long term spying operation on Swalwell.

She had kept her intimacy with Swalwell and other local politicians.

“Through campaign fundraising, extensive networking, personal charisma, and romantic or sexual relationships with at least two Midwestern mayors, Fang was able to gain proximity to political power, according to current and former U.S. intelligence officials and one former elected official”, as Axios reported.

The exposure of Rep. Eric Swalwell brought a story in 2018 back in the limelight. It is a story about Sen. Diana Feinstein who had hired a Chinese spy, Russell Lowe, as her driver for two decades. This exposure raises question about Sen. Feinstein’s China ties and the resulting national security concerns.

Both Russell Lowe and Fang Fang are tied to Chinese consulate and Chinese student associations. These are typical spy harbours for the CCP.

An old photo, posted by CSUEB Chinese Student Association, surfaced in which Lowe and Fang Fang were spotted in the same picture in 2011 with then Consul Chen of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles.

A DOJ report revealed the Chinese Consulate in LA being a harbour for PLA spies who disguised as researchers to steal research and intellectual properties.

In July 2020, the State Department ordered the closure of the Chinese Consulate in Houston due to espionage worries about intellectual property and private information.

There is no doubt that these are only a tip of the iceberg. These pictures indicates that the CCP operates espionage activities on the US soil for a long time, and their consulates help disguise such activities.

It is therefore critical for the United States to investigate the ties between Chinese student associations and the CCP. Many overseas Chinese students are victims of these espionage activities too, as they may be conned into participating without realizing they are assisting the CCP in their crimes.
