Ukraine’s prosecutor general Irina Venediktova told the BBC she was investigating nearly 14,000 cases of war crimes committed by Russian troops.

That’s what she mentioned during a speech in London, the destination for the first time she left Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion for a mission. Currently, there are 100 to 200 new cases come to light every day, she said.

Prosecutor Venediktova met with U.K.’s Attorney General Suella Braverman and other officials to discuss what the U.K. and other Western powers can do in supporting the investigation process.

She said: “As of today, we have about 14,000 cases, almost 6,000 of them are directly related to war crimes. The most common war crimes charge being the bombing of civilian buildings, especially hospitals and schools. More than 1,000 medical and school buildings were destroyed, and civilians were killed, looted and raped. Prosecutor Venediktova eventually revealed that she had opened an investigation on the genocide allegations.
