On May 25, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the UK, EU, and US will establish a new mechanism called “the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA)” to help investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine and assist in the prosecution of those responsible.
The ACA will not only provide strategic advice and operational assistance to the relevant legal authorities in Ukraine but will also provide additional funding for international prosecutors and teams of war crimes experts, said Blinken.
At the same time, the US, UK, and EU countries have expressed their support for this investigation, to recommend more experts for Ukraine to help gather evidence to hold Russia accountable for war crimes committed in Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, Russian forces have committed nearly 14,000 crimes of aggression and war crimes since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war.
