Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war in February, Youtube has deleted a large number of videos and channels that glorified the Russian-Ukrainian war.  These include channels related to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and some channels of Russian journalists who describe the Russian-Ukrainian war as a “liberation (Ukraine) operation”.

Youtube chief product officer Neil Mohan said that Youtube needs to ensure that its platform information is accurate, high-quality and credible, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine is obviously a major violent incident.

So far, Youtube has not been boycotted by Russian officials for banning related videos and channels.  Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have been banned or restricted in Russia in response to the platforms’ ban on Russian state media.
