Hong Kong democratic activists persecuted by the CCP

According to sources, Xu Baoqiang, one of the trustees of the “612 Humanitarian Support Fund”,  and former visiting associate professor of Lingnan University’s Department of Cultural Studies, was arrested by the National Security Department of the police when he was about to leave Hong Kong at the airport, on suspicion of colluding with “foreign forces” in violation of the “Hong Kong National Security Law”. The other four trustees of the fund, including former Hong Kong cardinal Chen Yat-kun, barrister Ng Ai-yi, singer Ho Yun-sze (Denise Ho), and former Legislative Council member Ho Sau-lan, who is still serving a sentence, were also arrested.

The “612 Humanitarian Support Fund” was established on June 15, 2019. The Fund aims to provide humanitarian and relevant financial support to individuals who are injured, arrested, attacked or threatened with violence during the Anti-ELAB (Extradition Law Amendment Bill) protests, including but not limited to the actions on 12th June. They primarily provide legal, medical, psychological and emergency financial assistance. Along with the end of the “HK Alliance for True Democracy” in August last year, the Fund announced that it would cease to operate due to lack of bank accounts.
