Entering the summer flood season, many provinces in China suffered severe flooding due to heavy rains.

It was reported that Guangnan County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province suffered a heavy rainfall on May 9. Many trees fell, electricity poles and guardrails were damaged, and one floor of a family in Liancheng Town was flooded, and then the family was relocated.

On the same day, a road in a residential area in Chongqing collapsed and several cars slid down the slope.

From May 9th to 10th, Guilin was hit by heavy to torrential rain, with 5 places affected to various degrees. A total of 6,418 people were affected, 15 houses collapsed, and 33 houses were severely damaged.

On the 10th, heavy to torrential rain fell in Longmen County, Huizhou, Guangdong Province. At 8:00 p.m., the orange rainstorm warning signal was upgraded to red. At 9:00 p.m., the flood control emergency response level was upgraded from level IV to level II.

In addition, according to the yellow rainstorm warning issued by the National Meteorological Center (NMC) on May 10, there are 5 stations in the Yangtze River basin exceeded the warning water level from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm., mainly distributed in Xiangjiang tributary of Dongting Lake system and Ganjiang tributary in Poyang Lake system, with the over-alarm range of 0.18 meters to 0.85 meters. At 8 p.m. that night, the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission launched a level IV emergency response to flood and drought disaster prevention.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Communications, 20 highways and 21 national roads were affected by the heavy rain.

At 6 a.m. on May 11, the NMC continued to issue a yellow rainstorm warning. From 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. next day, heavy to torrential rainfall occurred in parts of Sichuan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Guizhou and other places. Affected by the continuous heavy rainfall, the risk of local mountain torrent disasters in central and eastern Guangdong, southeastern Yunnan, and southwestern Fujian is relatively high, and the risk of local geological disasters such as floods, landslides and debris flows is high in central Guangdong and other places.
