In the future, Americans will have to accept COVID-19 as another flu-like respiratory virus, senior officials at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wrote Monday, according to a May 3 report on the DAILY CALLER.

FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, Principal Deputy Commissioner Janet Woodcock, and Dr. Peter Marks, the agency’s top vaccine official, wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association that COVID-19 will circulate for the foreseeable future and must be given acceptance as just another common virus.

As with influenza, officials wrote that this new reality is likely to require annual COVID-19 vaccination around the most threatening strains of the virus. And it will likely require similar considerations each year when consulting for vaccine component updates.
