The hospitals across Canada are scrambling to respond to a resurgence of the COVID-19 outbreak, and the worsening of the outbreak could last for more than a month, according to a report from Canada CTV News on April 19.

The latest figures from the Public Health Agency of Canada show that between April 4 and 11, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 across Canada rose by about 18 per cent, from 5,109 to 6,020.  At the same time, the number of people in intensive care is also on the rise in most provinces.

In this regard, Dr. Eddy Lang, department head of emergency medicine in Calgary for Alberta Health Services said that the province is currently in the sixth wave of the pandemic caused by the BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron, but it’s not as dramatic as the original Omicron surge.
