A Freedom of Information request filed by The Blaze has revealed that the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) directly paid almost all major US corporate media outlets in a 1 billion USD taxpayer-funded campaign to promote COVID-19 vaccines and censor any negative vaccine coverage.
“These outlets were collectively responsible for publishing countless articles and video segments regarding the vaccine that were nearly uniformly positive about the vaccine in terms of both its efficacy and safety,” stated The Blaze.
According to the bombshell documents, the Biden administration timed the vaccine campaigns to coincide with the increased COVID-19 vaccine availability.
These campaigns deliberately included so-called influencers and experts like US Chief Medical Advisor Dr Anthony Fauci.
All the government-funded news outlets, including ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and NBC, did not disclose the federal funding as the source of their vaccine promotions.
The HHS also funded intense media coverage of the vaccine among hundreds of local TV stations and newspapers across the country and major media publications like Buzzfeed News, Los Angeles Times, Newsmax, and The Washington Post.
The documents also show that the Biden White House bought vaccine ads on social media, TV, radio, and print.
For example, in March 2021, Facebook announced its plan to encourage vaccinations by working with the Biden administration and US health agencies to suppress so-called COVID misinformation.
The Los Angeles Times used advice from experts on how readers could convince those who refuse vaccinations to change their minds. At the same time, Newsmax said COVID vaccines are safe and effective and encouraged readers to get vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the most recent US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) data reveals 1,151,450 COVID-19 vaccine adverse event reports, including 24,827 deaths since December 14, 2020.
However, like most other corporate media worldwide, mainstream US media have continuously labelled all who oppose the vaccines, including scientists and public health experts, as science denialists and conspiracy theorists.
In March 2021, Congress also spent 1 billion USD in taxpayer money tax dollars on vaccine propaganda, plus 3 billion USD for the CDC to use in vaccine outreach programs throughout the states of America.
The Blaze reached out to several HHS-funded news outlets with editorial boards that claimed “firewall policies”, which prevent advertisers from influencing news coverage.
The Washington Post and Los Angeles Times responded that their newsrooms operate independently from advertising.
“Advertisers pay for space to share their messages, as was the case here, and those ads are clearly labelled as such,” stated Shani George, Vice President of Communications for The Washington Post.
Meanwhile, former Newsmax anchor Emerald Robinson, fired from the outlet for tweeting negative information on COVID-19 vaccines, has confirmed that the HHS paid the network to broadcast positive vaccine coverage only.
