On January 28, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania has found that the state’s no-excuse mail-in voting law, Act77, was unconstitutional.  The law was enacted in 2019.  Fourteen members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives filed a petition to block it.

The law, Act77, allowed voters to submit their ballots by mail up to 50 days before the election and placed voters on a list to permanently receive mail-in ballots.  It also established an additional 15 days to register to vote and extends deadlines for mail-in and absentee voting.  The Act also outlines rules for decertifying voting machines.

The Pennsylvania State Department disagreed with the ruling and is going to file an immediate appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
