According to a report from Reuters, Japan’s Diet passed a resolution against the Chinese Communist Party’s human rights violations in February.1, its arrival just in time for the Olympics.

The resolution said that the international community has expressed concerns over such issues as internment and the violation of religious freedom in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Tibet, and Hong Kong, and that the Diet has realized that the CCP is forcibly changing international rules through these acts, which is a threat to the international community. The resolution shows that human rights have universal values and that Japan should not only focus on domestic human rights issues but also join the international community in paying attention to the CCP’s human rights issues.
In addition, Japan announced in December that it would not send a government delegation to the Beijing Winter Olympics because of the genocide, anti-humanity, and other human rights violations committed by the Chinese Communist Party in Xinjiang.
