According to reports, the parliament strongly condemned the deterioration of human rights in Hong Kong, including restrictions on freedom of assembly and the press, and called on the Hong Kong government to release all political prisoners and drop charges against all peaceful protesters arrested in recent years. In addition, as the CCP government is trying to legitimize its authoritarian system at home and abroad, the parliament also urged the CCP authorities to repeal the National Security Law.

In addition, MEPs urged the European Union to impose sanctions on officials cracking down on human rights in Hong Kong and called for a diplomatic and political boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Earlier, Denmark and the Netherlands, two EU member states, announced on the 14th that they would not send government delegations to the Beijing Winter Olympics because of the CCP China’s human rights issues.
