The editor-in-chief of the Global Times has twittered about a potential countermeasure from Beijing against the passage of the “Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act”.

Why the way America choosing to treat Hong Kong becomes a move of “interfering internal affairs of China and Hong Kong”? The judiciary of China has become the party’s willful tool against anyone against their oppression.

Question:Recently, USS Gabrielle Giffords and USS Wayne Meyer entered China’s neighboring waters of Meiji Reef and the territorial waters of Xisha Islands respectively. Do you have any comment and have the Chinese side take any measures to respond?

Answer:The spokesperson of the PLA Southern Theater Command has already issued Chinese side’s position on these two events. Here I want to stress that these two events only show once again that the US side is disrupting international laws and norms, sowing disorder in the South China Sea, risking the safety of service members of both sides and undermining the military relationship between China and the U.S. The Chinese military will continue to take all necessary measures to defend national sovereignty and security and protect peace and stability in the South China Sea.

Question:Recently, there are many media coverage on the situation in Hong Kong and we notice that one of the most frequently mentioned phrase is “ending violence and chaos and restoring order”. Will the Chinese military take new measures to end violence and chaos and restore orders?

Answer:On the situation in Hong Kong, President Xi Jinping gave an important statement on Nov.14 and sent the strongest message about ending violence and chaos and restoring order in Hong Kong. The statement sets the direction and path for stabilizing situation in Hong Kong. The PLA Hong Kong Garrison will obey the instructions of the Party’s Central Committee and the Central Military Commission. It has the determination, confidence and capabilities to fulfill its missions entrusted by the Basic Law and the Garrison Law. And it is able to defend national sovereignty, security and development interests and safeguard long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong.

Question: This month, China’s second aircraft carrier passed through the Taiwan Strait. The outside world is interested in China’s future plan for aircraft carriers. What is the military’s consideration on this? Second question, the spokesperson pointed out that the actions of the US warships pose threats to service members on the two countries’ naval vessels. Does this mean that the increasing provocations by the United States Navy will increase the chance of accidents between the naval vessels of China and the US?

Answer: On the first question, developing aircraft carriers is a major strategic decision based on our national security and overall development. We will plan the development of aircraft carriers in accordance with our economic and social development and the needs of national defense and military build-up.

On the second question, despite warnings from the Chinese side, US warships and aircraft repeatedly and deliberately trespassed into neighboring waters and airspace of China’s islands and reefs in the South China Sea. These actions jeopardize regional peace and stability, undermine China’s sovereignty and security, and endanger the safety of the front-line service members of both sides. These are very dangerous provocations. We urge the US side immediately stop such operations that harm China’s interests. The Chinese military has always been on high alert and will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard our national sovereignty, security and development interests.

CUHK student got shot in the eye with 50% vision left but he said he didn’t want to waste too much time in hospital but went back earlier to help.

Chun Jai’s (pseudonym) right eye was hit by a rubber bullet fired by the police during the conflict in CUHK and was sent to a hospital. He was at death’s door but managed to live with only 50% of vision. Returning to CUHK with reporters, he reminisced that his eye injury was “not worth it, but expected.”

Chun’s right eyeball and retina were damaged, and had his both eyelids, infraorbital bone and tear duct burst. He had to go through two rounds of surgery. When asked if he wanted full or partial anesthesia, he chose the latter so that he could “not waste time and go back earlier to help,” and persisted through the pain of the two surgeries, which lasted for 3 and 5 hours respectively.

He thanked the medical staff for concealing his condition because he was hit directly by a bullet and might be arrested if the police knew it, but ”they understood what he was going through,” and kept saying, “Sorry.”

When pressed further on whether China was considering barring all US lawmakers who have drafted the Hong Kong-related Act from entering China including Hong Kong and Macao, Geng Shuang, the spokesperson of Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, said on a regular press conference on Nov. 29:

You are a frequent member at our press conference. I believe you are aware that we usually don’t respond to specific reports and comments from the media, think-tanks, experts and scholars.

What I can tell you is that visa issuance is a sovereign right. The Chinese government has every right to grant or deny entry. Surely those unwelcome will not be permitted to enter our country.

China is considering putting certain US legislators on a no-entry list after US President Donald Trump has signed the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act (S. 1838) into law on Wednesday.

Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of the Global Times, a mouthpiece of Communist China, made a quick response and tweeted on Nov. 28:

Based on what I know, out of respect for President Trump, the US and its people, China is considering to put the drafters of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act on the no-entry list, barring them from entering Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.

I want to tell Miles Guo that you have changed the rest of my life. Your outstanding performance has made me feel proud and without regret. Whenever I recall these decades of ups and downs, your miraculous performance always saved the day, and I always think that the hand of God is holding you up so that you will not fall from the high above.

I also believe that your parents’ education has laid a good foundation for your life. You wouldn’t get here without the essential quality of kindness.

I believe in two rails of life, one is to be a good person, and the other is to be a person who has struggled and contributed to society. You did both, and it was brilliant.

You have a superior memory, savvy, wisdom, strong will, first-class social skills, and keen insight into one’s psychology and analytical ability. All of these make me tremendously admire.

An announcement made by China Merchants Bank went viral on Weibo (Chinese twitter) on Friday about a temporary halt of the oversea fund transfer service starting Dec 2nd due to “system upgrades”. All oversea fund transfer will be stopped on Dec 30th and all pending transactions will be canceled. Fund transfer service will resume on a future date to be announced.

After a Chinese Youtuber called “Lude” tweeted this announcement, it got removed from the bank’s official Website. But, the same page was cached on Baidu, a Chinese search engine.

This type of tightening measure is inevitable. China has been finding excuses to stop bank customers from withdrawing dollars. it has been trying to mask its dwindling foreign currency reserve to delay panic withdrawals and other dire consequences.

The Hong Kong Bill could trigger the end of the Hong Kong dollar’s pegging to the U.S. dollar and subsequently drain a significant source of foreign currencies into China.

The Chinese government has also been investing heavily overseas especially for the one-belt-one-road initiatives. And this has definitely made the matter worse.

This might mark the beginning of a much tighter control for oversea fund transfer.

The State Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection regulates party and government leading cadres and state-owned enterprise executives to use their powers for personal gain, mainly targeting the luxury tobacco and high-end liquor industries.

This operation handled a total of 2,848 issues and a total of 4,217 people, of which 749 were transferred to the judiciary, 2,009 were punished by the party, 1,161 were punished by the government, 449 were handled by the party organization, 307 were advised, and 856 were reported as typical problems. In Changzhou city of Jiangsu province received 1,196,300 yuan in illegal funds for this operation, and the rest of the regions returned unknown amounts.

Editor’s review: In China, the monopoly system for tobacco and alcohol is a monopoly market, and the relevant responsible departments and persons in charge have huge economic benefits. This action shows that the entire Chinese government is short of money, and the central government is trying to collect money from local governments, in any excuse. On the other hand, this is also a struggle for power. Because those in charge of the tobacco and alcohol industry all have backers in the central government, otherwise it is impossible to sit in the corresponding positions. Now that so many people have been dealt with at once, it shows that the CCP’s intra-party struggle is fierce. It is also showed that the power of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection is already above the law, in other words, the CCP’s power is above the law.

An eyelash-curling video got worldwide attention after a 17-year-old girl was banned on TikTok for raising awareness of the imprisonment of millions of Uyghurs in China. A knock off video appeared on TikTok to justify the mistreatment of Uyghurs.

TikTok has been long suspected of being a propaganda and spying tool for the Chinese government. It does not only collect user data, but it also tries to sway public opinions in the West and make the tyrannical behavior of the Chinese regime acceptable in the free world.

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CCP held a meeting to review the ’Regulations on the Work of Primary Organizations of the State Organs’ and the ’Regulations on the Work of Primary Organizations of the State-owned Enterprise(Trial).’ General Secretary Xi Jinping chaired the meeting.

The meeting emphasized it is necessary to strengthen the day-to-day supervision of grassroots party organizations and guide party members and cadres to perform duties, exercise power, and carry out work in strict accordance with the system.

Implement the statutory status of party organizations in the corporate legal person governance structure, and ensure that the leading role of party committees (party groups) in state-owned enterprises is systematic, standardized, and concrete.

Editor’s review: this meeting shows that the CCP continues to strengthen centralization in the name of enhancing party leadership.
