Two CCP maritime police vessels entered the Senkaku Islands at around 4:15 a.m. and joined two other CCP maritime police vessels that entered the waters on Monday.
The Japan Coast Guard described the new marine police vessels that entered the waters Tuesday as aiming their bows at a Japanese fishing vessel and taking action to approach the vessel, one of which was armed with what appeared to be an automatic cannon.
Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Katō said at a press conference on Tuesday, “This incident is regrettable and the proximity to Japanese ships is absolutely unacceptable, and these activities are in violation of international law…”
By noon Tuesday, all four CCP maritime police ships had left the area, while the Japanese government protested to the CCP as it did Monday.
