On Feb. 12, Beijing time, the Communist Party’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) issued a statement banning the BBC World News from landing in mainland China, according to a Feb. 12 report by the Epoch Times.

The SARFT declared that the content of BBC World News’ China-related reports “seriously violates the Regulations on Radio and Television Administration and the Measures on the Administration of Landing of Overseas Satellite TV Channels” and does not meet the conditions for landing foreign channels in China. The authorities have decided not to allow BBC World News to continue broadcasting in China and will not accept its application for landing in the new year.

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab tweeted in response to CCP’s decision to ban BBC World News in mainland China is an unacceptable curtailing of media freedom.
