The Strange Situation of “Granary of the World”

Food is the foundation of the country and the people’s livelihood. Is food security safe or not as the words from the Chinese Communist Party? I believe that readers will have a criterion in their hearts if they look at the various messes in the “granary of the world”.

Toxic Rice

In April 2020, the market supervision bureau of Zhenxiong County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, seized a batch of substandard rice noodles in the market, after tracing the source of a batch of rice from Hunan Province, containing heavy metal “cadmium” exceeded the standard, and finally destroyed nearly 100 tons of rice.

In October, there are more than 2,500 tons of rice, content of heavy metal ‘cadmium’ exceeds the standard, from Hunan Province into the national granary in Guangdong Province, the rice merchants involved were sentenced.

Sand Rice

In July 2020, the network has rumored that the grain of the national granary is falsified, ‘the top is grain and the bottom is all sand’.

Alcohol Grain

On July 12. 2020, a video spread on the Internet, causing  a widely concern.

A woman in the video is a grain merchant who has a trade with the grain storage Heilongjiang provincial branch “Zhao Dong  Depot” , when she bought corn grain from the grain depot found that  all become unusually rotten, inedible.

And then she was angry and went to the corresponding grain depot in person, recorded a video, to introduce people to what kind of grain those are.

Take a look here, they sold us “alcohol grain”, see, this is the state of alcohol grain, ouch, smelly, and then adulterated, 20 centimeters thick sieve fall, just like Director Yang said, this is called sieves, may I ask, at the time of storage, these sieves are sieved in the depot, were not returned to the car and took away, how could appear in your grain depot, more than 20 centimeters of sieves?

Worm Grain

The grain depot in Jilin Province was exposed to a large number of black worms, grain merchants bidding to 4,000 tons of corn grain full of wormholes.

Fire

On July 1 2020, a grain depot of Sinograin in Duyun, Guizhou Province caught fire, covering an area of about 200 square meters, the cause of the fire was not reported.  Major grain depots in Shanghai, Henan and Guizhou have all caught fire.

Soaking Water

The SINOGRAIN  grain depot in  Zhao Dong county, Heilongjiang Province, Qing Gang Rong Chang depot has water-soaked grain and is also mixed with a large number of sieves. In the video, a woman claims to have serious quality problems with the reserved corn, she bought it at a price close to 2,000 yuan a ton. on July 12, SINOGRAIN responded that it had noticed the problem reflected in the video and had sent an investigation team to the area on the 12th to carry out an investigation.

The Rats

On August 18.2020, the official website of the State Supervisory Commission of the CCP Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) issued a notice stating that Luo Jiaque, the chief accountant of COFCO Corporation, was “suspected of serious disciplinary violations” and was currently under “examination and supervisory investigation.

The system of China National Grain Reserve Henan Branch has been exposed to 110 “rats”, taking advantage of the national “market grain” acquisition policy to buy and sell empty “circle grain”.  Some informants said that many grain depots are empty.

” Eating Openly ” and ” Anti-Food Waste Law “

In April 2020, Science and Technology Daily reporter interviewed some experts. Experts believe that our grain depots are full, so there is no need to grab food and hoard it. We have sufficient production capacity and reserve capacity to ensure food security.

In early July 2020, the Chengdu Agricultural and Rural Bureau in Sichuan Province  issued a document requesting a survey and reporting on the resumption of rice cultivation in the city’s orchards and forestry gardens in response to a possible food crisis. Some local farmers believe that such a costly official request to abandon orchards to plant staple food (rice) with very poor benefits implies that China’s food reserves are quite fragile.

According to the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development, the implementation of the “Retirement of Cropland for Food Security” is a national task. It is still in the investigation stage, and the final amount of money needed must still be decided by the government.

In addition to Sichuan, Mr. Fang, a basic-level official in Xiaogan, Hubei province, said that the city has also asked villagers to mobilize them to plant land and promised to give them a subsidy of 150 yuan for every mu(equals to 666 square meters) of staple food they cultivate.

In August 2020, after Xi Jinping’s high-profile criticism of China’s “alarming” food waste, the Communist Party’s official media immediately launched a propaganda  to save food, with some even openly advocating the restoration of “hunger”. A report released  by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences also admitted that China’s food shortage will reach 130 million tons in five years.

In December, the anti-food waste law is on its way. The seventy-eighth meeting of the chairman of the Standing Committee of the thirteenth National People’s Congress decided that the twenty-fourth meeting  was held in Beijing from December 22 to 26.  It is reported that the NPC Standing Committee’s Legal Affairs Committee to strengthen the legislative work to stop food and beverage waste, the establishment of a legislative work team to study and draft an anti-food waste law, to be submitted for consideration by the meeting of the chairman of the committee.

Look at the above granary chaos, whether Comminist China’s food is safe or not, I believe we have the answer in mind.
