The emails exposed amonng others, the communication by Professor Rita Colwell with staff of EcoHealth Alliance and others, centering a large scale cover-up of the origin of the Covid-19 virus (aka CCP virus or SARS-Cov-2) involving top scientists in the US and across the world.
The true story behind Lancet Statement in February
The Lancet statement dated February 19th, 2020 was signed by 27 prominent scientists in related fields. It echoed the Chinese Communist government’s conclusion that the Covid-19 virus came from wildlife condemn any other theories that suggest the virus did not have a natural origin as ‘conspiracy theories’.
The statement also expressed support for Chinese scientists, and praise the Chinese Communist government’s handling of the outbreak of the pandemic.
It also appear like a legitimate convergence of professional opinion among top scientist? Until this email dump proves otherwise.
Based on the released emails, the statement was drafted by Dr. Peter Daszak before or on February 6th, 2020 and published on 18th, 2020. Dr. Li-Meng Yan blew the whistle on Jan 19, 2020 on Lude Media that the virus was transmissible from people to people, forcing the Chinese government to admit such a nature about the virus a few hours later. Before that, no other scientist in the world pointed this out.
Dr Peter Daszak stated in his email that the theory about the CCP virus originated in the lab hurt their collaboration with Chinese scientists.
In another email, Dr Raszak suggested a list of 15 scientists that may be willing to support the statement. He made it clear that the plan was to wait for Prof. Colwell, a very prominent scientist who has gathered 61 honorary degrees in institutions all over the world, to express supporting before circulating to other scientists.
Prof Colwell was the 11th Director (1998-2004) of the National Science Foundation (NSF) which controls about 25% of the funds for all federally supported research conducted by the United States’ colleges and universities.
Not all scientists they reached out had signed the statement, but had participated in other activities in the cover-up.
Dr. Ian Lipkin, co-authored with other scientists, published the paper The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2 on Nature Medicine , as the primary scientific support for the nature origin theory of the CCP virus based on the fabricated (by Dr Zheng-Li Shi) virus RaTG13.
Past collaborations with Chinese researchers
Dr Peter Daszak has a long history of collaboration with Dr Zheng-Li Shi at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), for more than 15 years. Dr Daszak and Dr Shi have many co-authored scientific papers on virology and part of them are about gain-of-function studies.
WIV and Dr Shi are the primary suspects to engineer the Covid-19 virus and release it to the world. The NIH cancelled EHA’s grant to conduct virus study in WIV in April this year after the whole world is infected by Covid-19. The NIH’s funding to WIV is primarily through EHA.
In the past 10 years, Dr Daszak has visited 20 countries, looking for coronavirus from bats. Strangely he decided to not use his expertise to provide useful information to the world ahead of the Chinese government, which is notorious for lack of transparency. Instead, he echoed only what the Chinese government released and defended it.
Prof. Colwell is also a member of the EHA board of directors. The emails disclosed how she joined the board of EHA. Even though she is not on virology but probably her prominence in science put more weight in the statement and enlarged the list of signatories.
Past coronavirus experiments with Chinese researchers
One of the email recipients, Dr Ralph Baric, is a professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr Baric is one of the collaborators with ‘bat woman’. Dr Zheng-Li Shi, for virus gain-of-function study which was ended by the US NIH in 2014 for concerns about the risks vs. benefits, but it was resumed in 2017 (source).
Early in 2008, Dr Baric published the scientific paper on PNAS titled synthetic recombinant bat SARS-like coronavirus is infectious in cultured cells and in mice . In 2015, he and Dr Shi jointly published an article demonstrating how to insert part of one coronavirus to SARS which was responsible for the 2002-2003 epidemic in East Asia.
In other words, they did make new viruses using natural viruses.
Another scientist from the communication list is Dr Linfa Wang, professor and director of Emerging Infectious Diseases Program at Duke University US and National University of Singapore, as well as fellow of Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.
The censorship of lab-origin theory
These emails explain why there are scarce peer-reviewed scientific articles holding the idea that Sars-Cov-2 might start from the lab, as peer-reviewed papers have to first pass these gatekeepers who control the publications of scientific journals. By censoring publications on lab-origin theory, the media would have an excuse to attack those publications for being not scientific enough as they are not peer-reviewed (eg. https://on.natgeo.com/3fnZt7w).
Nearly a year into this pandemic, the world is yet the understand the most basic facts in order to find a solution: the origin of the virus. Traditional we rely on these so called top scientists, but in this instance their roles are questionable.
If some of them are responsible for the pandemic, how can they be the judges to decide the nature of the virus and lead the investigations into the origin of the virus?
