The Four Common Misconceptions about China – Part 1

I would like to ask you a question, what unique advantages do you have over your peers? The unique advantage is something that you are the only person who is very good at and makes you competitive over others.

After careful comparison and consideration, you will come to a striking conclusion that we do not have any advantage over our peers. But there is a way to give us an immediate advantage, which is to get ourselves into study of the 5000 years’ wisdom handed down from our ancestors. It is also important to understand the advantages of Western culture, because knowing the strength of yourself as well as that of your opponent is the key to success. However, you should establish your foundation with Chinese traditional culture, not blindly learning western culture because I do not believe you could be more like them. And the culture is genetic in our blood, the growing environment and historical background of Chinese and Western people are different, so you will feel out of place if you purely apply the West to yourself. Culturally, you will not acclimatize either, so it is not feasible for you to completely westernize. We should first learn the 5000 years’ wisdom handed down from our ancestors, and then we go to learn the advantages of the West, like Miles Guo, perfectly combine Chinese and the West, that is called East Soul West Skill. East soul means his mind comes from Chinese traditional culture, the eastern thought, but the techniques and skills he uses are from the West. We must go back to the original source. The history and culture before Qin Dynasty is real, and after that they have been falsely and badly redacted, so we must retrace our roots.

There are four common misconceptions among the Chinese people. The first one is about Chinese history, the second one is about Chinese geography, the third one is about Chinese ancestry, and the last one is about Chinese culture.

When it comes to Chinese history, many people would prefer saying Chinese 5000 years history. Since when should we start to count the 5,000 years? It is well documented on history record. It was from the time when Shaft Yellow Emperor prospered the Central Plains and unified the world. Counting from the emperor’s first year, so far it has been over 4700 years, so roughly 5000 years is correct. But counting from Shaft Yellow Emperor is the Daoist Calendar, also known as the Lunar Almanac or the Yellow Calendar. So who was the real Chinese ancestor? When did the real Chinese history exactly begin?

It actually began with Fu Xi, the First of the hundred Kings. It is recorded in Chinese history that the First King was Fu Xi. The Shaft Yellow Emperor was very behind that was called the Five-Emperor Times. Fu Xi was from the Three-Sovereigns Times; he was the First of the Three Sovereigns of ancient China and was the first ancestor of humanities. Our misconception is that all began from the Spring-Autumn and Warring States Period, which was Zhou Dynasty, the Eastern Zhou States. There were two more Dynasties prior to Zhou called Xia and Shang, so Xia, Shang and Zhou together were called the Three Dynasties. Ahead of Xia Dynasty, including the Five-Emperor Times, Yao and Shun were known as ancient sages; and the most influential within the Three Dynasties were King Wen of Zhou, King Wu of Zhou and Duke of Zhou. These people contributed to the historical ties of the Confucianism. Confucianism was taught by Confucius who delivered the truth originally handed down by the ancient sages Yao and Shun; and adopted the system of moral laws established by the Kings Wen and Wu. Confucius believed that those people were the best, but he did not really know about Fu Xi. Since then, Fu Xi culture has been gradually lost. These are the misconceptions of Chinese culture and Chinese ancestry. (To be continued)
