A few days ago, I got a phone call from my voice teacher asking me about the WeChat ban in the US. She wanted to confirm that she could stop using WeChat on Sept 20, a popular App among oversea Chinese. She expressed her unwavering support for the WeChat ban even though she uses WeChat to connect with her Chinese students.
Besides data collection and censorship on WeChat, my voice teacher saw the many dangers of WeChat.
Many oversea Chinese are preoccupied by WeChat leaving no time for them to integrate into the American society
“The Chinese Communist Party uses WeChat to brainwash Chinese all over the world!” She said emotionally. Due to its “rich content”, many oversea Chinese are addicted to this App with which they can connect with friends and family back in China and join interest groups from music to politics.
“We came to the US but WeChat stops us from integrating into the society. Mentally, some Chinese still live in China! They only read the Communist Party’s interpretation of the world news on WeChat.” said my voice Teacher Ms. H. She left behind a successful music career and came to the US to pursue a free life.
WeChat pushes for Chinese digital payment
To my surprise, my voice teacher, who lives a music-oriented life with little exposure to the financial world, complained to me that WeChat is forcing digital payment upon the Chinese and beyond.
The Chinese digital payments are accepted by more and more foreign stores where Chinese tourists do their shopping.
WeChat organizes oversea Chinese for political agenda
When a local Chinese American took part in a local election a couple of years ago, many WeChat groups were formed to gather support from the local Chinese. The propaganda was “Chinese should vote for Chinese” (regardless of the candidate’s agenda). Ms. H and I did not follow the crowd.
Instead, Ms. H found it suspicious that a Chinese realtor, out of nowhere, suddenly announced her candidacy in an election. And immediately many people, out of nowhere, started to form volunteer groups on WeChat to support her, even though the candiate had no clear objectives.
WeChat even helps the CCP’s agenda to be forced upon the Chinese community. During a Chinese New Year gala in our community a few years ago, one-belt-one-road became the theme and every performance had to be associated with this theme.
Ms. H saw the increasing infiltration of the CCP into our local community and has already cut ties with many of the organizations like local Chinese choirs, etc.
Now she welcomes President Trump’s decision to ban WeChat.
“What about connecting with your students on WeChat?” I asked her.
“We have other ways to keep in touch. Besides, I’ll get to have more American students.” She said in a cheerful voice.
Ms H texted me a letter she received from President Trump and Vice President Pence after our phone conversation.
WeChat is the CCP’s leash around the neck of Chinese Americans, forcing us to follow CCP’s order and become CCP’s army to infiltrate the world.
It is time to break the leash and free the Chinese Americans!
