On September 15th, 2020, Dr. Li-Meng Yan, the whistleblower virologist from the WHO reference lab of Hong Kong University released her first scientific paper since her escape from Hong Kong, away from the threats and influence of the Chinese Communist Party. The scientific article, co-authored with three other Chinese doctors and initially released on Zenodo, a general-purpose open-access repository operated by CERN, reveals that the COVID-19 virus was engineered and produced by People’s Liberation Army laboratories of the Chinese Communist Party. Her research paper details evidence contradicting the natural origin theory proposed by the CCP-infiltrated World Health Organization (WHO). Furthermore, Dr. Yan outlines a man-made route for the creation of the COVID-19 virus, demonstrating that “laboratory-creation of this coronavirus is convenient and can be accomplished”.
When Dr. Li-Meng Yan went public with her report on the origin of the COVID-19 virus, she created a Twitter account on the same day. Her account shared links to her scientific paper on Zenodo, which now has over half a million downloads at the time of publication of this article.
As Dr. Yan stepped forward with a credible and relevant explanation for the origin of the COVID-19 virus, which has caused close to 1 million deaths and 30 million cases worldwide, Twitter suspended her account in less than 48 hours of her Tweet. This blatant censorship by Twitter contradicts its mission statement of “giv[ing] everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly without barriers”.
The information shared by Dr. Li-Meng Yan is crucial in our understanding of this pandemic and even more vital in the resolution of this global crisis. Twitter has little reason to censor Dr. Yan as she is proven to be a reputable scientist bringing hidden truth from the authoritarian communist China. In fact, Fox News has already hosted her for multiple appearances. Her most recent interview with Tucker Carlson has over 1 million views on Fox News’ Youtube channel alone.
Twitter’s censorship of Dr. Li-Meng Yan is infuriating the public, a phenomenon expected from a social media company already infiltrated by the influence of the Chinese Communist Party.
Twitter has taken a pro-CCP stance since the hiring of Fei-Fei Li as a “new independent director” to its board of directors on May 11th. As reported by Taiwan News, many anti-CCP accounts were banned since her arrival at Twitter.
“On May 20, a petition was created on the White House website titled “Call for a thorough investigation on Twitter’s violation of freedom of speech.” The creator of the petition wrote that Twitter is suppressing criticism of the CCP and suspending dissident accounts while pro-Beijing accounts remain unscathed.”
Fei-Fei Li is linked to the CCP through the United Work Front Department (UWFD), an organization that works to “co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party,” with its primary focus being “the management of potential opposition groups inside China, but it also has an important foreign influence mission,” according to a report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. Li’s participation in the UWFD is illustrated in detail in her profile article on the National Pulse.
American citizens are increasingly dependent on social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and recently CCP-controlled Tiktok. While the failure of social media to fulfill its role as a news outlet is evident, foreign political influence poses a new challenge to these platforms that were initially presented as neutral and uncensored.
While citizens of the free and democratic societies cannot rely on Silicon Valley to provide them with crucial information during this global humanitarian crisis, they must seek the truth on their own. Dr. Li-Meng Yan’s article can be found here, a must-read for all.
