After US Secretary of State Pompeo’s visit to the UK, one of the responses from the Chinese Communist Party is to immediately stop showing all Premier League matches for this season in retaliation for British government’s tough stance on the CCP.
Nine months ago, the CCP stopped broadcasting NBA games, a feud which started on Oct 4 when the general manager of the Houston Rockets tweeted out an image in support of the pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.
Ironically, the so-called Ping-Pong diplomacy thawed the US-China relationship back in the 1970s. Now basket ball and soccer games are being used by the CCP to blackmail the world. There are certainly many unhappy fans in China.
