CCP’s strategic acquisitions in UK via its proxies
The Chinese Communist Party has been taking over western companies strategically via its proxies like Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, who went on a shopping spree in the UK after making lucrative profits in the Chinese real estate.
Some Chinese netizens criticized Li’s profit-taking in mainland China as not being patriotic enough. But his acquisitions in the UK paved the way for Huawei’s expansion.
“Three, a subsidiary of Hong Kong conglomerate Hutchison Holdings, signed a deal with Huawei in June to act as a key supplier for a £2bn project to build 5G networks in the UK. Hutchison is part of a sprawling international business empire controlled by Li Ka-Shing, Hong Kong’s richest man. BT signed a similar deal with Huawei in February.”
