Kayleigh McEnany: China’s New National Security Law in Hong Kong Conflicts with Sino-British Joint Declaration


At the White House Press Briefing on May 28, President Trump’s Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany reiterated that “China’s decision to impose a new national security law in Hong Kong lies in direct conflict with its international obligations under the principles of the legally binding UN-registered Sino-British Joint Declaration, and that Secretary Pompeo determined that Hong Kong does not warrant different treatment under U.S. laws because Hong Kong no longer remains sufficiently autonomous from the PRC.”
