On January 10, the German Anti-Doping Organization called on the athletes heading to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics not to eat Chinese meat products, so as not to ingest the steroid substance clenbuterol, commonly known as “lean meat powder,” resulting in a violation of doping regulations.

Clenbuterol has been listed as a banned drug by the International Anti-Doping Committee because it has the effect of promoting fat decomposition, increasing muscle content, and improving the body’s oxygen-carrying capacity.

In Communist China, it is not uncommon to “mistake” “lean meat powder”.

In 2010, the famous badminton player Mi Zhou failed a urine test because he took “Bezoar detoxicating tablet”.

In 2011, Zetao Ning, who was not yet famous, was found to be positive for clenbuterol during a pilot drug testing and was suspended for one year by FINA.

In 2015, there were 3 cases of clenbuterol positivity in Chinese swimmers.

In 2016, Lizhuo Wang, the “new frog king” of Chinese swimming, was also found positive for clenbuterol, although he was not yet 18 years old.

In 2016, Shandong Luneng football club player Jin Jingdao was found positive for clenbuterol during a drug test and was suspended for 60 days by the AFC.

On November 30, 2016, the official website of the CCP Anti-Doping Center announced that 17 people, including Xunzhao Cheng, the bronze medalist in the men’s 90kg Judo at the Rio Olympics, tested positive for clenbuterol.

“Lean meat powder” has been used as a feed additive in China since 1984 and has a history of nearly 40 years. It was also reported in the CCTV 315 Evening Gala in 2021 that mutton farmers have been using “lean meat powder” for as long as 10 years in Qing County, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province.

“Lean meat powder” can not only effectively improve feed returns but also increase lean meat rate by 9%-16%, reduce skeletal muscle fat by 8% to 15%, significantly improve meat quality and increase profit margins.

However, “Lean meat powder” will remain in animal tissues, especially in the liver and other internal organs. Humans may experience muscle tremors, palpitation, tremors, headache, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms after eating, it’s especially harmful for patients with high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and enlarged prostate, severe cases can lead to death.

Since 1986, European and American countries have strictly prohibited the use of clenbuterol in animal husbandry, but Communist China has repeatedly failed to ban it.
