On Dec 22, 2021, I watched a video clip of Miles Guo being interviewed by a journalist named Isobel Yeung. Actually, it is a “story” told by Isobel, and not really an interview. During the one-hour video, only 3 minutes were devoted to the interview, and the rest of it is first-person storytelling by Isobel, which I feel is very strange.
What interested me later was that I found out Isobel has done a “documentary” program about a Xinjiang concentration camp. On the cover of the story, you can see her posing in front of the camera, and she looked stunning! Perfect lighting, cute outfit, perfect make-up, also you can tell the “beauty shot” was taken by a professional camera and photographer, the “bokeh” effect blurry background, but in the background, you can still see the “prisoners” sitting around in a “class”.
I have to say Wow! This is unbelievable! As a Chinese person myself, if I went to Xinjiang I wouldn’t even know where those “camps” are located. If I were to ask anyone, nobody would tell me or know the answer, and I wouldn’t be able to find any information about it online either. It must have taken her extreme effort to be able to do that.
Secondly, the Chinese media has never talked about these camps. How a foreign media organization, HBO VICE could get into the camp and even interview the prisoners is beyond my understanding. We should congratulate them. BRAVO VICE!
Why don’t we all go to Xinjiang and do some interviews like that? Can we, whoever believes whatever Isobel and VICE talk about? I encourage you to try it! All the mainstream media, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, why don’t they all go to Xinjiang to find the camp and interview some prisoners?
