During a global video conference called NEXT that took place on December 3rd, local time, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken pointed out that the CCP has recently used military actions to provoke Taiwan to change the status quo across the Taiwan Strait.  The United States is working hard to ensure and maintain that Taiwan has an army capability for self-defense.  If the CCP intends to invade Taiwan, Blinken said, “that would be a potentially catastrophic decision.”

CCP attempts to isolate Taiwan internationally, obstruct Taiwan’s participation in international affairs, and engage in military provocations.

Blinken stated that the US government follows the Taiwan Relations Act, the three US-China communiqués, and the six guarantees as to the basis for the “One-China Policy” to deal with Taiwan Strait issues.  He also said that the CCP attempts to isolate Taiwan internationally, obstruct Taiwan’s participation in international affairs, and engage in military provocations. Blinken warned the CCP to think twice before acting and refrain from creating crises and harming others.
