On Nov 29th, the U.S. Department of Defense announced its completion of its Global Posture Review. Joe Biden was receptive to the Review afterward.
An official from the Pentagon stated that this confidential document placed emphasis on the adjustment of military deployment in the Asia-Pacific region, responding to CCP’s pacing challenge. In this regard, the Review was completed after several months of coordination between the U.S. military and its global allies.
It is reported that Mara Karlin, deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III, mainly focused on CCP and regarded it as an aggressive challenge. Therefore, the emphasis of the Review was placed on the Indo-Pacific region. Karlin underlined that the conclusions of the Review suggested that, the U.S. should enhance cooperation with regional allies and partners, advance measures to promote regional stability, and deter CCP’s potential military invasion.
