The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Demonstrates Declining Tendency, with African Countries Stepping away from the CCP

On Nov 28th local time, the triennial Forum on China-Africa Cooperation opened in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. Nevertheless, the forum degradation from the head of state level to minister level sent out a signal of attitude change of African countries, which indicates the decline of CCP’s hegemony in Africa.

Thierry Pairault, a French economist and expert on CCP, stated that what changed tremendously in the last three years was the attitude of African countries, who had realized that not only did CCP make many big mistakes about the pandemic, but also they could cash no cheque from their own. CCP’s false promises of “one belt, one road” cause many African countries to fall into the debt trap and become insolvent. Take the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC) as an example, none of the 31 hospitals and 2 universities promised by the CCP have been completed, and President Tshisekedi recently announced the reassessment of the copper mining and other mining investment contracts signed with the CCP.

Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State paid a visit to Dakar before the Sino-Africa cooperation forum and gave a speech, expressing that U.S. aimed to inspire a race to the top for global infrastructure, close the infrastructure gap, reduce corruption and avoid saddling countries with unmanageable debt.
