Broadcast|CCP’s bid to contract Thailand water conservancy project at low price fiercely opposed by local human rights organizations

Thailand’s parliament member Veerakorn recently revealed that for Thailand’s controversial Yuam River diversion project, the CCP-controlled North Industries International Corporation Ltd. had previously offered to build the project at its own expense at a cost of $1.2 billion over four years. In response, the Thai government, which had declined to assess the project twice, approved its environmental impact assessment report last month.

Local time on October 25, sources said that Thai human rights organizations strongly disapproved of the project, amid concerns that the new reservoir will flood villages, destroy forests, and adversely affect the local Karen indigenous population. In addition, the project was assessed to be “seriously defective”.

In the name of Belt and Road Initiative, bribing and controlling the local politicians, the CCP is trying to further expand its influence in Thailand by involving in infrastructure projects at any cost. Southeast Asian countries should be more vigilant to CCP’s economic kidnapping.
