Gas Exploded in a Food Street at Huangdao District of Qingdao City, China

Translated by: MOS Translation Team – Laniakea

At 2:00 a.m. local time on October 25, an explosion erupted in the food street near Shandong University of Science and Technology in Qingdao city, turning the area around the north gate of the university into a sea of fire with smoke billowing from several townhouses.

Rescuers on the scene believe the fire may have been caused by a gas tank explosion in a food stall. The incident reportedly occurred in Qingdao City, Huangdao District, and the Huangdao Development Zone Fire Brigade stated no casualties in the fire.

Notably, Sinopec’s oil pipeline in Huangdao District had a massive explosion in November 2013, leading to 62 deaths and 136 injuries.

After one after another explosion in just a few days since Oct 21st, ranging in Shenyang, Alashan, Dalian, Nanjing, Qingdao, and other places,  the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has consistently concluded that each explosion was an accident, without providing follow-up reports to inform the public of the causes behind each explosion or their rehabilitation measures. We will continue to monitor the follow-up development of these accidents.
