U.S. Bipartisan Bill Introduced to Counter CCP’s Economic Coercion

Translated by: Yacob (Canada Yuancheng Himalaya Farm)

On October 15, Representative Ami Bera (D-CA) and Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO) jointly introduced a bill, ‘Countering China Economic Coercion Act’, and actively promoted the establishment of an inter-agency taskforce to respond to and resist the CCP’s “Economic bullying” towards the US government, companies, organizations, and individuals.

Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA) and Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO)

Rep. Bera is currently a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia, and Nonproliferation.  During the press release, Rep. Bera cited examples of the CCP’s broad use of economic retaliation and coercion.

In recent years, the US Congress has introduced a series of bills to counter the CCP’s tyranny in Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Today’s action taken by the congressmen from both parties demonstrated further that in deeply divided U.S. Congress, bipartisanship is being forged, and a hardline stance against the CCP government has increasingly become a bipartisan consensus.
