Chicago Mayor Backed Down! Unvaccinated Teachers Will Not be Dismissed

Translated by MOS Education Team – Sarahyy

On October 14, the Life Site stated that the Chicago’s Democratic-run city backed down on vaccine mandates. Instead of mandatorily requiring public school teachers to be vaccinated before October 15 or losing their jobs, governing authority agreed to accept teachers’ continuing service with weekly PCR tests.

On Wednesday, the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU), joined with two Service Employees International Union (SEIU) groups representing support staff of the school district, wrote a letter to Mayor Lori Lightfoot indicating that nearly 90% CTU ordinary members and thousands of SEIU district 73 members have been vaccinated, the most unvaccinated are black and Hispanic women. The letter further states that if punitive policy insists on the unvaccinated being vaccinated, schools will face severe staffing shortage after the deadline, especially the frontline staff like health care workers, janitors and substitute teachers, and that school safety will be threatened.

Concession of the Chicago Mayor to the CTU shows that mandatory COVID19 vaccination policies are not enforceable when people standing firm on their free choice of vaccination.
