According to a recent comprehensive report on the U.S. Chinese website, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington(CREW) filed a complaint against White House press secretary Jen Psaki for allegedly violating the Hatch Act by endorsing Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe during a press conference.

The Hatch Act, a law that requires federal government employees to be neutral, prohibits them from participating in campaign activities in their official capacity.

The group complained about Psaki’s comments at a White House news conference Thursday. Asked at the time by a reporter whether the White House sees the Virginia election as a bellwether for future elections, Psaki replied, “We will do everything we can to help former Governor McAuliffe, and we believe in the agenda that he represents.”

In addition, complaints have been filed against HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge since Biden took office. The special counsel’s office determined that Fudge’s comments at a White House press conference in support of Democrats vying for a 2022 Ohio congressional Senate seat violated the Hatch Act.
