According to a report by the Epoch Times on October 14th, 2021, a critical vulnerability of the highest level of security has been discovered in the Hikvision surveillance cameras that are widely deployed across Europe.
The vulnerability allows a potential attacker to gain full control of a device, arousing the European Parliament’s concerns that it might put at risk sensitive sites where these Hikvision surveillance cameras are deployed.
Hikvision, a company from communist China, known publicly as a state-owned manufacturer and supplier of video surveillance equipment for civilian and military purposes, is said to be actually controlled by a Chinese military-industrial group called the China Electronics Technology Group Ltd. with HU Haifeng, son of former Chinese president HU Jintao being in charge of the company’s operation.
Chinese military-industrial groups are forced to comply with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), including the handing over of data if so required.
Hikvision has been accused, by the previous and the current U.S. administration, of collaborating with the CCP in violating human rights and committing genocide against the Uyghur Muslims in China’s western Xinjiang Autonomous region and monitoring its own people all over the country.
