The FCC Sets A Start Date To ‘Rip And Replace’ Network Equipment Made By CCP-Controlled Huawei And ZTE

According to a report by The Epoch Times on September 27th, 2021, in order to ensure that U.S. telecom operators will not use equipment or services that pose a threat to the US national security or the security and safety of Americans when building next-generation networks across the USA, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) designated Huawei and ZTE as national security threats on June 30th last year and prohibited U.S. companies from using an $8.3 billion government fund to purchase equipment from either company, because these two companies have close relations with the CCP and China’s military institutions.

Therefore, on Monday (Sept. 27th), the FCC announced the start date for a $1.9 billion program to repay U.S. telecom carriers to “rip and replace” network equipment made by Huawei, ZTE, and other Chinese companies. From October 29th to January 14th, 2022, telecom carriers will be able to apply for this funding.
