According to a report from Reuters on September 22nd, 2021, a European Union-funded project tobuild a genomic map of Poland plans to abandon gene-sequencing technology from China’s BGI Group, due to concerns about data security and national security. A human genetics committee at the Polish Academy of Sciences also said that Poland has no control over that sensitive personal data.
Though the BGI Group is repeatedly declaring its policy of data protection, it seems that it can not stop the trend of losing trust from the outside world because of its deep collaboration with the PLA.
