According to an article by Bitter Winter on September 14th, 2021, Hong Kong’s June 4th Museum was raided by armed police on Thursday, September 9th. The museum, located in the Ngai Wong Commercial Building, has been forced to shut down since June 2nd under the “pretext of alleged breaches of health regulations and administrative rules.”
The June 4th Museum exhibited artifacts, photographs, and documents commemorating The Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989. It symbolized the Chinese students’ fight for democracy.
Following the raid five prominent leaders of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China were arrested and detained, this further demonstrates the Chinese government’s oppression for the hope for democracy. However, communist China will soon find out that its totalitarian coercion can not control people’s thoughts, and a virtual version of the museum has been launched beyond the reach of its tyranny.
