The U.S. Senator and The Former Secretary-General of NATO Support Lithuania to Deepen Relations with Taiwan

Translated by: MOS Gourmet Team – Chevalier

After Lithuania announced decision to set up mutual representative offices with Taiwan, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) suppressed the decision of the Lithuanian government. However, politicians across the world showed supports to the Lithuania government.

Right after thirteen European and American countries jointly condemned the CCP and showed supports to the Lithuanian government on August 27, on August 31, Marco Rubio, U.S. Senator sent a letter to Gitanas Nauseda, the President of Lithuania, and expressed his support and gratitude to Lithuania. Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the former Prime Minister of Denmark and the former Secretary-General of NATO, also wrote to Lance Burgess, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, supporting Lithuania’s courageous decision to develop relations with Taiwan and calling on Europe to unite in response to the CCP.

Rubio criticized the CCP for using its economic and political influence for bullying and intimidation. Rasmussen condemned the CCP’s suppression over smaller European countries who defend their own freedom, democracy and human rights. The CCP under Xi Jinping’s domineering “war-wolf” diplomacy throughout the world is being increasingly resisted and counterattacked by more and more countries.
