On August 2, CCP’s overseas propaganda media CGTN posted a chart describing in detail how the Delta variant spread from Nanjing across communist China. It listed 21 cities in 8 provinces, including Nanjing, Yangzhou, Huai’an, Wuxi, and Suqian in Jiangsu province; Shenyang and Dalian in Liaoning province; Zhongshan and Zhuhai in Guangdong province; Ma’anshan and Wuhu in Anhui province, Zhangjiajie, Xiangtan, Zhuzhou, Changde, Yiyang in Hunan province; Chengdu and Mianyang in Sichuan province; Yinchuan in Ningxia Hui “Autonomous Region”; Beijing; and Chongqing. However, it is worth mentioning that Zhengzhou in Henan province also had an outbreak, but was somehow not listed on the cities above.
According to a report on henan.gov.cn on August 2: between 0:00 and 24:00 on July 31, Henan province added 1 imported case, 12 local cases (Zhengzhou), and 20 local asymptomatic cases (Zhengzhou); From 0:00 to 15:00 on August 1, Henan added 1 local case (Shangqiu), 2 imported cases, and 2 local asymptomatic cases (in Zhengzhou and Zhumadian respectively).
According to the report, Zhao Dongyang, Deputy Director of Henan CDC, said that after the outbreak, they quickly went through the gene sequencing and analyzed the virus strains of recent imported cases. From the current results, the delta variant is the main cause of the current outbreak.
According to a report by 163.com on August 1, at Zhengzhou’s News Conference on July 31, it was not mentioned that the Zhengzhou outbreak was related to the Nanjing outbreak, and that the currently confirmed cases could not be traced back to Nanjing. According to the report, Wang Songqiang, Director of Zhengzhou CDC, emphasized at the press conference that Zhengzhou is one of the 12 first entry airports for diverting international flights from Beijing, as a result, Zhengzhou is the main battlefield to prevent and control viruses and an important gateway to prevent imported viruses in Henan province. The Sixth People’s Hospital of Zhengzhou, where the epidemic broke out, is a designated hospital for imported infection cases.
Similar to the previous media discussions on the source of Nanjing outbreak, this report quoted posts of the official website of Civil Aviation Administration of China: Since July, the Civil Aviation Administration has issued “fusing instructions” for flights arriving in Zhengzhou, including flight CA906 (Yangon to Zhengzhou) and flight CA910 (Moscow to Zhengzhou).
If searching with “Civil Aviation Administration has issued fusing instructions for flights arriving in Zhengzhou several times since July”, there are 6.71 million relevant results on Baidu (Figure 1) and 188,000 results on Google (Figure 2).
Figure 1. Baidu showed 6.71 million related results.
Figure 2. Google showed 188,000 results.
It seems that the CCP may once again set Russia as the source for this round of Zhengzhou outbreak.
