According to a report published by dwnews on July 27, Hongxing Erke, Honey Snow Ice City (MIXUE), White Elephant (BaiXiang Food Group) and other Chinese national brands generously aided people who are suffering from the floods in Henan Province recently. Their generosity “touched” many Chinese people living in Communist China. Subsequently, the Internet set off a frenzy of purchasing due to Chinese people’s support of these national brands.
In respond to people’s support of national brands, on July 26, the Pingjiang County of Hunan deliberately issued a “red-title document” (i.e. official government document in Communist China) to show their support toward these national brands. The document said that tourists consuming national brands can partially enjoy the promotion of travelling for free. It’s reported that this practice has led to many criticisms online. Some netizens think that this practice was “unnecessary”. Others believe that the government’s behavior of treating “red-title document” is like child’s play and stupid.
