According to an expert who interviewed La Press, Canada, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and NATO formally accused China of illegally hacking about 400,000 Microsoft Exchange email servers used by numerous governments and private companies around the world. So far, no punitive measures has been announced against Beijing.
However, it is “rather different” for such a united front to denounce computer hacking. Since Joe Biden came to power in January, the United States has been more willing to work with allies.
The Canadian government’s cybersecurity agency released a statement last Friday outlining some of the threats that foreign actors could pose to the next federal election campaign.
