A batch of 3,200-page of Fauci’s emails were obtained by BuzzFeed News through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit.
One of the mails was sent by Kristian G. Andersen to Fauci on Jan 3rd 2020. It wrote: “all find the genome inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory”.
But Kristian G. Andersen, Andrew Rambaut, W. Ian Lipkin, Edward C. Holmes & Robert F. Garry still boldly claimed”, do not believe that any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible.”
And another email sent on April 18,2020 by Peter Daszak, who was deeply involved both in Wuhan coronavirus research & in misleading the public about the likelihood of a lab leak, thanked Fauci for helping “dispel the myths” around COVID origins and blamed Fox News for targeting his grant. And Fauci replied to him “Many thanks for your kind note”.
Here’s a Feb 21, 2020 email to Fauci from a Weill Cornell Medical College associate professor of dermatology, he wrote: “we think that there is a possibility that the virus was released from a lab in Wuhan, the biotech area of China”, Fauci forwarded to a colleague: “please handle”.
In conclusion, as the situation develops, more and more details would be uncovered.
From the emails, maybe we can see Fauci didn’t think Covid-19’ source was from lab at the beginning, although a lot of evidence and people were indicating him. 3,200+(!) pages of communications obtained by BuzzFeedNews show how Fauci tried to keep Americans calm in blind and develop an effective strategy despite conflicts with the Trump administration. At the same time, Peter Navarro warned his White House colleagues the coronavirus could take more than half a million American lives and cost close to $6 trillion, and the President timely restricted travel from China, the moved to delay re-entry of American travelers who could be infected.
