MOS Hong Kong Group: Chocky
A candle vigil has been organized to pay tributes for those who died in Tiananmen Square on the 4th of June, 1989. The event is to be held anywhere in Hongkong and around the world, defying the Beijing-controlled Hong Kong government, which has banned the rally in Victoria Park for the second consecutive year, citing coronavirus concerns.
Ms. Chow Hang Tung, vice chair of the Hong Kong Alliance told a HKFP reporter that she is encouraging people to “light a candle wherever you are” at 8pm Beijing time on the 4th of June to commemorate the heroes and victims of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, marking this year the 32th years of the Massacre since 1989.
Ms. Chow suggested the backup plan of “light a candle”, which is to be observed at 8pm local time in Hong Kong or any place around the world. So far, Hong Kong is the only place that has held the Tiananmen Square Massacre vigil in China. A massive number of innocent students and ordinary Chinese were brutally killed while they were pleading for democracy and freedom; the horror has been stuck in the minds of so many even after decades.
For the last two years, the cruelty of the Hong Kong government has inflicted even more miseries, which has further proved that their well-crafted words indeed are empty promises; and the Beijing-controlled puppet administration simply means no future for the people of Hong Kong.
